Supporting data for manuscript "Voluntary locomotion induces an early and remote hemodynamic decrease in the large cerebral veins"

The CSV file 'Eyreetal_DrainingVein_SourceData' contains the averaged time series traces and extracted metrics from individual experiments used across Figures 1-5 in the manuscript "Voluntary locomotion induces an early and remote hemodynamic decrease in the large cerebral veins". The following acronyms included in the CSV file are defined as follows: Hbt is total hemoglobin, Art is artery region, DV is draining vein region, WV is whisker vein region, SEM is standard error mean, TS is time series, max peak is maximum peak, min peak is minima, AUC is area under the curve, WT is wild-type, AD is Alzheimer's disease, ATH is atherosclerosis and MIX is mixed AD/atherosclerosis. The locomotion values (traces and metrics) are in arbitrary units with larger integers representing a greater displacement of the spherical treadmill, the hemodynamic (Hbt) values (traces and metrics) are a percentage change from the normalised baseline (prior to stimulus presentation), and the corresponding time series vector is presented in seconds.

The MATLAB file 'dvpaper_tstraces.mat' contains the individual hemodynamic traces (total hemoglobin, Hbt; oxygenated hemoglobin, HbO; deoxygenated hemoglobin, Hbr) across all included locomotion events (N=2343) for the artery (art), whisker vein (wv), and draining vein (dv) regions, which the corresponding locomotion traces (walk_tot_interp), time series (time_haem, seconds). The MATLAB file 'dvpaper_tstraces_meningeal.mat' contains the individual hemodynamic traces across all included locomotion events (N=1224) where a meningeal vessel was detectable in the thin cranial window. These time series traces are 2-dimensional with dimension 1 (rows) representing the individual locomotion events which the data has been cut around, and dimension 2 (length) representing the number of frames captured (200 frames, recording speed 7.9932 frames per second). The trace parameters for the locomotion, artery, whisker vein, draining vein, meningeal vein (mn) traces are contained inside the 'traceparameters' variables and contain the maximum peak, time to maximum peak, minima, time to minima, and area under the curve for the corresponding time series traces. The following labelling information is also included in the file: animal ID, group ID (i.e. 2=WT, 1=AD, 3=ATH or MIX), sex (1=male, 2=female), session ID (corresponding to the experimental imaging day), and trial ID (corresponding to the order of detected locomotion events within each experimental imaging session).

The CSV files 'drainingVein_data4R' and 'drainingVein_topBottomLocoGrps_data4R' contain the time series metrics (including maximum peak, minima etc) with corresponding labels (including animal ID, sex, session ID, etc) present in the MATLAB file extracted into spreadsheets for loading into RStudio to conduct statistical analyses using linear mixed models.
