How can you help a vision impaired patient in hospital? Poster for Healthcare Professionals.

Download (220.64 kB)

Our collaborative research with Sheffield Royal Society for the Blind (SRSB) has led to the development of several resources to try and improve the care experiences of older adult patients with vision impairment.

This 'top tips for healthcare professionals' poster has been developed to help hospital staff who may encounter patients with a vision impairment to highlight the importance of communication, vision impairment awareness and practical support in an in-patient setting.

Patients may enter an acute hospital setting with a vision impairment, or may acquire a vision impairment during a care event. Vision impairment is prevalent in the older in-patient population but is largely unacknowledged in the acute hospital setting and in caregiving practices.
