New York.</p><p dir="ltr">Phase 1: Comparison of ‘sleep music’ to UK Chart popular music </p><p dir="ltr">a) Data were gathered about existing sleep music</p><p dir="ltr">b) Top ten most popular pieces were selected from sleep music from each channel</p><p dir="ltr">Results Although not analysed mathematically, most of the tracks contained melodies and rhythms that were very simple. Additionally, most tracks were highly repetitive, using either ‘loops’ or repetitions with small variations.</p><p dir="ltr">Phase 2: Comparison of uses of different types of music to facilitate sleep </p><p dir="ltr">a) Three types of music presented to different groups of participants (M1) Typical sleep music, (M2) Top Chart, (M3) Special sleep music </p><p dir="ltr">b) Control night without music, 1-3 nights with music Next morning rating of sleep quality, sleep onset latency, sleep duration, mood</p>
