These slides present the key findings from the Investing in Prevention and Support Project. This included findings that investing in preventative and supportive spending was effective for reducing rates of children in care or placed on child protection plans; that this investment was very likely to be cost neutral; that adequate family support, youth and preventative children's services funding was required to ensure social work funding does not result in more children being placed in care; and that the effectiveness of varied dramatically according to the years observed, across the geography of England, and depending on key differences in child populations including across children's gender, ethnicity, and age. The slides also contain discussion on the method used and why the findings differ from, and should be preferred, to findings from other studies.
