The review identified key methodological and regulatory guidance relevant to sample size reporting in adaptive design (AD) trials, drawing on influential documents from international harmonisation bodies, regulatory agencies, and expert consensus groups. The findings provided a conceptual framework that underpinned the initial drafting and structuring of the AD-DELTA2 checklist.</p>
