EACS 2016 Paper No. 151In this paper the potential of a novel dynamic vibration absorber termed energy harvesting-enabled tuned mass-damper-inerter (EH-TMDI) is assessed for simultaneous vibration suppression and power generation in white-noise force- and base acceleration-excited structures modelled as damped single-degree-of-freedom (SDOF) oscillators. The considered EH-TMDI comprises a classical linear TMD incorporating an electromagnetic energy harvester connected in series with an inerter device to link the attached TMD mass to the ground in a sky-hook configuration.
